GNAW & GNARL ARE DEAD

I like the film Rozencrantz & Gildernstern Are Dead [link] . In it, minor characters from the play Hamlet are focused upon, and we see what they do during the times that they're not on-stage for the duration of the play. I've adopted this idea for a competition by ~The-Labyrinth-Club. I had intended to do a mural piece of a goblin disgusied in a torn up teddy bear trying to snatch the crystal ball away from Jareth's owl. But i didn't want to simply do a mural piece with juxtaposed images of no real relation.

My diversion (story) occurs between the time Sarah wakes from her dream of the masked ball and when she is helped by Sir Didymus, Ambrosius and Ludo to escape Agnes' trap and make the last leg of the journey towards the gates of the Goblin City.

Sarah throws the enchanted peach away and it lands onto the head of a goblin (Gnarl) sitting - with it's friend (Gnaw) - on the other side of a junk mountain in the Wide Tract of Rottenness. The goblins fight over to whom the peach belongs to, and Hoggle (mourning nearby) overhears and realises that it must be the same peach that he gave to Sarah, meaning she must be nearby. Hoggle investigates and as a consequence recognises the danger that Sarah and her friends are heading towards (this is where the film carries on).

Page 62 of The Goblin Companion (Froud & Jones, 1986) mentions that the land the Goblin scavengers inhabit is called the Wide Tract of Rottenness (formed after the Great Collapse of Governance in the Labyrinth). According to this source, it is the goblin Agnes that Sarah encounters in the Wide Tract of Rottenness and who tries to burden her down with useless material possessions.

Your art style is to much for me, I just can not deal with how perfect Jareth was drawn.
